21st Century Schools

HIPA has adopted a strategic approach to building 21st century schools in Hawaii. There is dire need: school districts are suffering from aging schools, $392 million in maintenance backlogs and a $1.3 billion budget deficit. Funded by The Learning Coalition in 2009, HIPA examined solutions and established a stakeholder group to guide the project, which resulted in proposed legislation (HB1385) to reform land use and facilities for public schools.
